In the meantime...

Stepping Out in RED Shoes!
- Day 100 -

Be About Your Father's Business!

When the call of God is Your call of God, nothing else matters.  It's so bold and powerful!  It can take your breath away.

Here's the problem:  The time between when God calls you and when you actually find yourself in the midst of fulfillment, can be years.  Years?  What on earth are you supposed to do during that time?  Why does God give you such advance notice?

TRAINING!

Sure, some of that training may be education studies... like Bible school, but even more so is the "on  the job training."   Developing a prayer life, reading God's Word, being faithful in your church attendance and giving -- building character and integrity -- that all happens in life, not school.

"Being about your Father's business"  is about doing what God has asked of you -- here and now.  For me... that's walking with Him and writing about it everyday.  Once a week, I set up the room for our Bonfire ministry and participate in the Pre-Bonfire prayer meeting.  I help Bonnie, the ministry leader,  in any way I can.  Once a month, I lead a home Bible study and help with a widow's ministry.  God's also given me a list of people that I'm to faithfully pray for -- some on a daily basis, some weekly.

This week a minister made a comment that struck me.  That means God said...

"Did you hear that, Gail?  Write it down!
That's something I want you to remember."

The minister was telling the story of Samuel's anointing of David as king.  (1 Samuel 16)

God says to Samuel, "Fill your horn with oil, and go;  I am sending you to Jesse the Bethlehemite.  For I have provided Myself a king among his sons."

When Samuel finally met with Jesse, he asked him to line up all his boys.  God's prophet went down the line, looking intently at each and every one of Jesse's seven sons, but not one of them was God's choice.  Samuel was bewildered. Something wasn't right.

"Are all your sons here?"  He inquired.

"Well no... there's still one more, but he's just a boy."   Jesse said.  "He's watching the sheep."

"Go get him!"  Samuel proclaimed.  "We won't do anything else until he gets here."

Where was David?  He was about his father's business.  He was being responsible for what had been given to him.  God was training him right there, in the field.

The minister's comment was this:

If you do -- and keep doing -- what God is asking of you...
God will find you.  He'll come get you with it's time."

What business has The Father given you to be faithful with?  Is it time to regroup and review that to make sure you're still on track?

Every day, I'm stepping out in my RED shoes, knowing that Daddy will come get me when it's time.

Gail
