"Running Over!"

Stepping Out in RED Shoes!
- Day 71 -

Short and Sweet,
but Powerful!

It all went down so fast that I didn't really know what happened.  I was standing in the isle, in my RED shoes,  talking to Jim after church.  Almost everyone had left and they were starting to turn out the lights.  We were walking slowly towards the doorway, waiting for some friends who were still talking at the front of the sanctuary.

I really just thought I'd make small talk with Jim while waiting for his wife to come along.  Somehow we got on the topic of his brother Hank.

"You know... your brother has really impacted my life and my ministry."  I said.

"Really?"  he responded.  "How's that?"

Then it happened...   Woosh!

It was as if God poured a whole pitcher of water in me all at once --  only way too fast!   I was filled and over-flowing before I even knew what was going on.

"...my cup overflows."
Psalm 23:5c

Suddenly,  I broke!  My eyes filled with tears in a matter of a moment.

"Are you okay?"  Jim asked -- totally caught off guard.

"No I'm not okay!"   I said, raising my voice.  "I'm having a moment of glory!
I'm going to have to sit down!"

I shuffled over to a seat and sat down, totally unable to talk.  Woe!  What was that?  Had I been hit with a spiritual tidal wave or what?  I'd never experienced such a thing!  It threw me for a bit of a loop.

Later in the day, I had to laugh.  Jim had never seen me emotional, let alone completely lose my composure like that.  Hey -- I'd never seen myself lose my composure like that.  One second I was perfectly fine, the next second I was totally wrecked.  It was actually quite wonderful!

When I thought about it the next day, I remembered my last blog about Hank -- Day 64 - The Glass.  How funny -  that's exactly what happened.   In one second, God spontaneously poured out His love upon me, filling me up to overflowing.  What can I say?  I couldn't contain it!  It about knocked me off my feet.

"And hope does not disappoint us,
because God has poured out His love
into our hearts by the Holy Spirit
whom He has given us."
Romans 5:5

I just never know what's going to happen when
I step out of my house in RED shoes.
