"Practice"

It's Day 6 of 2014 and I'm Stepping out in my RED shoes
exercising my spiritual gifts and boldly proclaiming the promises of God!

Last night, I had barely gotten my RED shoes off my feet and jumped into bed, when an amazing idea came to me.  Okay... it wasn't really my idea.  I was listening to one of my favorite preachers on Youtube  and I was inspired to take his idea and personally put it into practice.  Here's my paraphrased version of what he shared.

The preacher -- who was talking to an auditorium full of Bible school students -- was exhorting them to take authority over their life -- in Jesus' Name -- and proclaim the promises of God.  With that, the congregation stood up in unison, and gave it a try -- kind of a little practice session, if you will.  After about thirty seconds, there was a silence.

"That wasn't so good!"  the preacher stated.  "If that's all you got, you're in trouble.  You've got to get out of your comfort zone.   Let's try it again, and this time do it as if your life depended on it!"

What an amazing sight it was to see, as the camera scanned the room.  People's eyes were closed and hands were lifted, as words of victory were being released from the depths of the students' souls!

Glory to God!
Now there's a tribe of warriors
to be feared by the kingdom of darkness.
Watch out devil!

"You've got it!"  shouted the minister. "Now keep on doing it!  Practice makes perfect!  The devil will be thankful that you go to sleep at night.  It will be his only time of rest.  He'll be cringing each time your alarm goes off in the morning, because he knows you're coming after him!"

"That's what I need to do,"   I thought.  Before shutting my eyes and turning out the light, I made the decision that I'd give it a try in the morning.  I would see for myself if it made a difference.  Sure enough, morning came, and the first thing I did was give a loud shout.

"Hallelujah!" I proclaimed.
"This is the day that the Lord has made!"

As I jumped out of bed and headed to the bathroom to brush my teeth and wash my face, I exercised my heavenly language.  Why?  Because I can.  Not to mention that according to the Bible, praying in tongues edifies me.  That means it builds me up - it strengthens me spiritually.

"Anyone who speaks in a tongue edifies themselves..."
1 Corinthians 14:4a

"Edify" in the greek means to construct and build up, to confirm, to add strength to.

Some people make it a point to go off to the gym several times a week to train.  Their goal is to build up their muscles.  They do 10 reps of this exercise and that - perhaps 10 different exercises in all. Then they do it all over again, and even a third time. Three cycles of 10 reps each.  When the reps become fairly easy, it's time  to add more weight.  That's how muscles grow larger.

I'm looking to build spiritual muscle.  That said, I'm putting together my own workout routine and believing for results.  What better time to give it a try than this first week in the new year!   No more cowering away from spiritual opposition!  No more days of defeat and discouragement!  No more throwing in the towel to the enemy of my soul!  I'm sick of losing ground.  It's time to move forward!

From now on, you'll find me Stepping out in RED shoes
and heading to the spiritual gym.  I'm committed!
What about you?

Gail
