Stepping out in RED shoes!
- Day 14 -
This afternoon, I could be found -- RED shoes and all -- in a local vintage bookstore, browsing the shelves for something interesting to read. Sometimes I go there to check out the "new" stock. All the books are used, but there's a continual turnover. I just never know what I'm going to find. Sometimes a golden oldie by some great revivalist is sitting on the shelf, begging to be opened and read. They have chairs scattered throughout the shop, so if I find something I like, I take a seat and read for a while. I have to be careful. It's easy to lose track of the time and get wrapped up in the richness of it all!
Today while I was flipping through an old Leonard Ravenhill book on revival -- There it was! Then it happened again... and again!
The Lord was tugging at me.
"Come home and get in the secret place!"
He said.
I put the book I was reading back on the shelf and began puttering around, looking here and there.
"Come on!" He continued.
"Meet Me in the Secret Place!"
Okay... that doesn't happen all the time, so when it does it's quite distinctive. I left the store immediately and headed home. Even in the car, the Holy Spirit kept whispering,
"When you get home, get right into the Secret Place.
Don't get distracted! I want to talk to you."
He seemed so excited. I pulled my car into the driveway, got in the house, took off my coat and headed to the prayer room. Flipping on the worship music, I shut my eyes and began seeking His face. I started off sitting down. Then I paced back and forth. I even got down on my knees for awhile. Ultimately I ended up on the couch. That's where I got access. BOOM! I was in! Right then and there, it was as if Heaven opened up and God dropped this word to me:
"Those 3 financial releases I promised you
are about to happen!"
Suddenly I remembered Mike Murdock's story of the little girl and her exuberance in receiving his gifts. Then I remembered yesterday's blog on how I decided to be a "World Class Receiver" when my friends handed me the round trip ticket to go to my son's wedding. Putting 2 and 2 together, I decided this was a perfect opportunity to be a World Class Receiver with God!
"Praise you Jesus!" I shouted. "Thank you, Lord! I've been waiting for these gifts and now they are about to be released! Glory to your name! Finally I am receiving the answers to my prayers! Hallelujah!"
It was a glorious time of praise! But it got even better. The anointing fell on me and I found myself praising Him with great excitement and exuberance. I began clapping and laughing, waving my hands unto the Lord! "You are a good God!" I shouted. "Praise You, Jesus! Thank you for these blessings! I've been waiting for this and now the time is here! Glory!"
Suddenly, I remembered that the whole Red Shoe Project started thirteen months ago, because I wanted to know if God really provided.
Now -- after all this time --
here He was telling me,
"Here it comes!"
That just put me in a whole new realm. -- I was totally caught up in praise. Something supernatural was happening. It was a wonderful thing! Nothing had manifested yet, but I was praising Him, from my core, as if a truck just dumped a million dollars on me!
Do you know how many times I've tried to praise Him like that on my own. I was never able to get myself to the place of abundant -- overflowing -- reckless praise.
But Now --
after spending an entire year
walking with Him --
and Today --
having responded to his tugging --
Here I was!
Glory to God!
Just two days ago, I was talking about how the love of God flowed naturally through my daughter, Grace.
The key to it all had nothing to do with her attempt to love greatly. No! She simply loved out of the overflow of her disciplined relationship with Christ. The same thing was now happening to me. My exuberant praise was coming from the abundant overflow of my RED shoe relationship with God! How awesome is that?
Let's recap:
I stepped out IN my RED shoes,
early this morning, to do the work of the Lord,
and
I stepped out OF my RED shoes
and INTO the Secret Place when He beckoned me.
That seems to be a winning combination!
