Stepping Out in RED Shoes!
- Day 36 -
As I drove home from church tonight, I got to thinking about what the most important thing in life is that I can do. What is it that brings me the greatest joy? Of course I could tell you 1001 things about my kids! That's a given. But the more I thought and thought about that question, I realized the answer is - and should be...
Leading people to Christ!
Last week, my friend Jim boldly proclaimed at our Bible Study,
"I'm Born-Again!"
In the days of my youth, we said it like this:
"I'm saved!"
"Jesus came into my heart!"
"I've given my life to Christ!"
I'll never forget the day that Rev. Bob Salliby lead me to the Lord. After we prayed together, He looked me straight in my eyes and with the biggest smile on his face, proclaimed that the angels were celebrating in Heaven over my decision to follow Christ. I thought that was the oddest thing. I didn't have a clue what he was talking about, but even to this day I can remember how genuinely excited he was for me! I know now that he was referring to Luke 15:10 which says...
"...there is rejoicing in the presence
of the angels of God
over one sinner who repents."
There is so much I could say about soul winning. Tonight, however, I found myself meditating on an old hymn that says it better than I ever could. I also found a picture of the Coast Guard going out into stormy waters, early in the morning, to rescue lives.
Rescue the Perishing!
(Fanny J. Crosby and William H. Doane)
Rescue the perishing. - Care for the dying. - Snatch them in pity from sin and the grave;
Weep o-er the erring one. - Lift up the fallen. - Tell them of Jesus, the mighty to save.
Tho' they are slighting Him, - Still He is waiting. - Waiting the penitent child to receive;
Plead with them earnestly. - Plead with them gently., - He will forgive if they only believe.
Down in the human heart - Crush'd by the tempter, - Feelings lie buried that grace can restore;
Touch'd by a loving heart. - Waken'd by kindness. - Chords that are broken will vibrate once more.
Rescue the perishing. - Duty demands it. - Strength for thy labor, the Lord will provide;
Back to the narrow way. - Patiently win them. - Tell the poor wand'rer a Savior has died.
Chorus: Rescue the perishing, Care for the dying; Jesus is merciful, Jesus will save.
Oh that I would step out in RED shoes
each day with that same mindset - that
same driving force - that same focus and mission:
To Rescue the Perishing!
Who's with me?
Gail
